Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) organised a discussion on "Role of Zakat in Poverty Reduction" followed by Iftar mehfil at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city recently, said a press release.

Commerce Minister Muhammad Faruq Khan was present as the chief guest in the discussion.

The meeting was presided over by its board chairman Mohammed Solaiman, while Samim Mohammed Afzal, director general of Islamic Foundation was present as the key speaker.

Among others, founder chairman of the Bank Sajjatuz Jumma, former chairmen Akkasuddin Mollah amd Engineer Md Towhidur Rahman, directors Mohiuddin Ahmed, Abdul Halim, Khandoker Sakib Ahmed, Md Masud, former director MA Marman, Managing Director Muhammad Ali and deputy managing directors Md Mukhter Hossain and Md Abdul Jabbaer Chowdhury were present in the meeting.

A good number of clients and well wishers were present in the discussion and Iftar party.
